Are You Living Someone Else’s Priorities?

Joey and Jason are back, and this week’s episode of The Grind sees them discussing all things prioritisation. Joey starts of the show this week with another quote from Srinivas Rao about how not to lead your best life. Then the guys begin to talk about saying no, how it hurts your priorities if you don’t say it and how knowing when to say it, can help you get deeper into a subject you would prefer to spend time on.

Joey brings up the Steven Covey book ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ and talks about some of the ideas in the book and how they pertain to prioritisation. Jason then explains why in the military you get up so early and how that can benefit everyone, before talking about ‘The Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod and why you shouldn’t be afraid of a 4:30am start. Joey explains the importance of being flexible with everything but the most important things in your calendar before the guys move on to discussing how you can actually figure out what those are. The guys talk about themes and techniques like color coding your calendar. Jason shares a short anecdote about how he is on his fourth laptop in twelve days and talks a bit about dealing with high levels of stress. Joey brings up the ‘Rain Barrel’ effect by Stephen Cabral and discusses a few more reasons why you only have so many resources to dedicate to certain tasks.  “You might have to delete some stuff “. Grind on.
