Living Life On Purpose

“Strive for weird. Quit talking about tomorrow” – Joey Torkildson

Most of us would openly admit that when it comes to making plans and starting new endeavours, the word “tomorrow” often comes into play. “Tomorrow” I will visit the gym. “Tomorrow” I will start writing my book. “Tomorrow” I will make an appointment. However, in the words of Joey Tork himself, “Tomorrow” is the enemy.

Procrastinating and prolonging ventures to the next day is easy. So easy in fact, that we all do it all the time. This begs the question of today’s podcast; do you trust yourself to set out and do what you have said you are going to do?

We each have a personal responsibility to guard and serve our own priorities. Whether the priority is that of personal health, financial freedom or the well-being of others, society offers distractions to put aside our priorities and live a life of complacency. In order to defeat this, one must start living life on purpose.

Living life on purpose, as opposed to living life with purpose, is about living a life of intent. Through practice and repetition, you can pull yourself away from distractions and make the intention to go out and do what you want to do. By proving yourself that you can do what you said you were going to do, you build confidence in yourself. By building confidence in yourself, you will begin to trust yourself.
