18 Signs You Have High Emotional Fitness Part 2

“Emotional intelligence means knowing how to exert self-control, you delay gratification and you avoid impulsive action” – Dr Travis Bradberry

This week on The Grind, Joey and Jason revisit Dr Travis Bradberry’s article “Are You Emotionally Intelligent?” as they continue to discuss their own personal scores and engage in further self-reflection, in both business and in personal life.

One of the key features of a highly emotionally intelligent individual is their ability to say no to themselves and others. The article reads, “Saying no to a new commitment honours your existing commitments and gives you the opportunity to successfully fulfil them”. Both Joey and Jason agree that although this particular characteristic is difficult to wield, it can make a huge effect on a person’s success rate, and ultimately their well-being.

As the conversation continues, Joey shares some powerful thoughts on the connection between presence and charisma. Joey explains that when a person is present minded in a conversation or an action, they are offering much more of themselves to the people around them, therefore coming across as highly charismatic. The ability of harnessing presence does not come easily; however, it will lead an individual to becoming more thoughtful and more emotionally intelligent in their everyday life.
